Determination of Loss on Drying (LOD).

Equipment : Electric Oven

 

Procedure:

Pre heat the LOD vial for about one hour at the temperature as mentioned in individual method.

Weigh accurately about 2.0 gm. of sample (unless until specified in individual method) and keep it at temperature for the period as mentioned in individual method. 

Cool the LOD vial to room temperature in a desicator and weigh.

 

Calculations:

LOD (%w/w) = W₁  X 100

               W₂

 

Where:   W₂: Weight of sample (g)

               W₁: Loss in weight of sample after drying (g)
