SOP on Cleaning of  SS Water Storage Tank

 

 

Objective : To describe a cleaning procedure for the SS Water  storage tank.

 

Scope : To ensure that the tank is clean and free from any residual matter.

 

Responsibility : 1.It  is the responsibility of operating staff to clean the tank.

2. Production  Supervisor to ensure that procedure is followed.

 

Materials & Equipment :

1.      Cleaning agent: Teepol solution or liquid soap solution.

2.      Mops / brush / lint free cloth

 

Procedure

 

(1)   Drain out the SS water storage tank for left overs.

(2)   Wash the tank with running tap water using a pressure jet for 10 minutes.

(3)   Drain out the washings by opening the outlet tap.

(4)   Prepare a Teepol solution (10ml à 10 liters water) or liquid-soap solution (50gm à 5 liters water) and clean the inner surfaces by mopping.

(5)   Wash the inner surfaces of the tank by running tap water using a pressure jet for 5 minutes and drain the washings. Repeat the procedure for another 5 minutes and again drain the washings.

(6)   Wash the inner surfaces of the tank by using purified water and drain the washings.

(7)   Finally rinse the tank with previously boiled purified water and drain it completely.

(8)   Check the wash water for soap traces.

(9)   Cover the tank and fill with purified water.
